West African Drumming Ensemble Class

ALL LEVELS will enjoy exploring West African drums and rhythms with Drumlady K & the Bele Bele Rhythm Collective in this newly formatted version of "Drumspiration."

We will study and practice 2-3 rhythm arrangements (with songs, breaks, solo techniques) for 8 weeks in preparation to perform in front of a live audience at the end of the session! After that, there may be other performance opportunities.

There will be something for all levels in this class, as each rhythm that is chosen has parts for players just starting out and for those who have been studying for quite some time. Instruction mainly geared towards adult learners/players, however students from the age of 9 and up are welcome to join. Players will learn djembe and dunun (bass drum) parts.

Sundays, 5:30-7pm at Drumlady K's Rhythm Room inside the School of Musical Traditions, 7112 Willow Ave Takoma Park MD.

If you need a drum, please contact Kristen ASAP! Many drums are for sale at the Rhythm Room, waiting for new homes! Kristen's drums are fresh from Africa, built by Ghanaian drum builder Michael Owusu and his project, Drumming up From Poverty, in Senya Beraku, Ghana.
